Meet the Author

I have been writing this book for almost twenty years.

I had the idea for it when we moved from Kansas to California. I drove cross-country (half of it, at least) with a Nissan Pathfinder full of "stuff" and two, full-grown, male Chows. One was our dog. The other was a stray we picked up on a rainy night on the side of the highway right outside Lawrence, Kansas. That trip was quite an adventure - to say the least.

Little did I know it was merely the beginning of an even more amazing journey that has been the past seventeen years. There have been many ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies. Most of that may be told in other books yet to be written.

The purpose of this book is to share some of the lessons learned in that 1,825 mile, seventeen year journey. I saw a lot of signs, and I think they were trying to tell me something. I don't know if I'm imparting any great wisdom here. But if any of this helps bring some peace, comfort or clarity to your life, I'm glad. At least, you may never look at road signs the same way again.
